Hydro-Morphometric Modeling for Flood Hazard Vulnerability Assessment of Old Brahmaputra River Basin in Bangladesh - Juniper Publishers

Image
Juniper Publishers - Open Access Journal of Engineering Technology Abstract The present research introduces hydro-morphometric modeling to assess flood hazard vulnerability in old Brahmaputra River Basin in Bangladesh. Hydro-morphometric modeling is a spatial analysis in a GIS environment that has been applied for the estimation of flood hazard vulnerability. In this study the developed methodology processes information of seven parameters namely basin, flow accumulation, flow direction, stream order, stream length, stream density and drainage density. By applying Horton's and Strahler's formula of stream order, stream density and drainage density of old Brahmaputra River Basin are calculated. According to Horton's stream density and drainage density reflects the runoff and discharge status of a basin which also revealed that basin having high stream density and drainage density is most vulnerable to flooding. The old Brahmaputra River Basin subdivide...

Acoustic Shadow Moiré A Solution for 3D Biomedical Imaging - Juniper Publishers

Image
Juniper Publishers - Open Access Journal of Engineering Technology Abstract This article introduces a new 3D imaging technique for biomedical applications. The new technique uses shadow Moiré principles to produce 3D acoustic imaging. Optical shadow Moiré principles have been used in many industrial applications, but the acoustic counterpart has not been seriously investigated. The feasibility of using acoustic shadow Moiré in 3D imaging have been investigated by the author's research group. This review argues that using acoustic shadow Moiré mechanism can provide surface and volumetric 3D biomedical imaging technology with the safety and resolution needed for medical radiology. Keywords: : Shadow Moiré; Acoustic shadow Moiré; 3D imaging; Acoustic imaging; Medical diagnosis Introduction The Moiré effect is a result of the interference between two repetitive structures or images; e.g. grids, gratings, and their shadows. The interference between the ...

Juniper Publishers Reactive Power Compensation by Power Capacitor Method

Image
Juniper Publishers - Open Access Journal of Engineering Technology Authored by :  Fazal M Abstract Reactive power compensation play an important role in modern era because supplier companies take charges of it, if it exceeds a predetermined value so different companies enforce users to compensate it. In this paper, different topologies are discussed but the appropriate method which we are employing is power capacitor topology. This research has design programming based capacitor technique for 200 KVAR, 400V and detuning factor 7%. We understand standard and requirements regarding capacitor based topologies on the bases of price, qualities and different elements. Keywords: Detuning Capacitor; acceptor circuit; ZEE SILKO company Capacitor; Reactive power Introduction Reactive power compensation play an important role in this modern era because supplier companies take charges of it, if it exceeds...

Juniper publishers Implementation of A* Algorithm to Autonomous Robots-A Simulation Study

Image
Juniper Publishers - Open Access Journal of Engineering Technology Authored by :   Selvakumar AA Abstract This article presents some of the current contributions to the robotic path planning field. Reliable collision free path is the fundamental thing for proper working of autonomous vehicle/robots. In order to find an optimal path for robot, environment or workspace need to be understood correctly and suitable algorithm need to used. Many researchers developed different algorithm techniques as per the required operations. This paper presents an overview of strength and weakness of A* algorithm for static environment using distance formula. A* algorithm works on the lower details of the map hence, it is considered as a higher-level path planning technique. A* algorithm is based on the availability of adjacent nodes and distance of goal location from the current state of the robot. Keywords: A* algorithm; Path planning; Hierarchical algorithms; Heuris...

Juniper publishers Production of Bisphenol A (BPA) By Green Technology

Image
Juniper Publishers - Open Access Journal of Engineering Technology Authored by :  Ibrahim Altuwair Abstract The literatures and researches show that the reaction between phenol and acetone is too slow in the absence of catalyst, but it proceeds with formation of Bisphenol A (BPA) in the presence of acidic catalyst or any strong acid [ 1 ]. Although the BPA formation depends on the molar ratio of reactants (acetone and phenol), using a different solvents or catalysts will not deny the effect of the BPA on human health. It is only enhancing the reaction ratio between phenol and acetone and improves the selectivity. There are different catalysts and solvents have been tested and their effects on the process and BPA yields were evaluated. However, as the reaction proceeded to increase the water concentration, the inhibition effect of water reduces the reaction rate and gives low yield. This will not eliminate the impacts of BPA directly or indirectly on hum...
